Terms of Service

Last updated: February 6, 2025

1Acceptance

By accessing or using CivicStatement ("Service") at civicstatement.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2Description of Service

CivicStatement provides a web-based platform for public-sector institutions to draft, review, approve, and manage public statements. Use of the Service is subject to your institution's license agreement. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it at any time with reasonable notice.

3Account and Acceptable Use

You must provide accurate account information and keep it updated. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You agree not to use the Service for any illegal purpose, to violate any laws, or to infringe others' rights. You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms or for any other reason we deem appropriate.

4Payments and Refunds

Annual licenses and other paid features are billed according to the pricing agreed in your institution's license agreement. All sales are final. We do not provide refunds. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you have read and accept this no-refund policy.

5Intellectual Property and Your Content

Your institution retains ownership of statements and content it creates using the Service. You grant us a limited license to use that content only as necessary to provide the Service (e.g., processing through AI drafting tools). The Service itself, including its design, branding, and technology, is owned by us or our licensors.

6Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that AI-assisted content will be accurate, non-infringing, or suitable for your use. All statements must be reviewed and approved by authorized personnel before release. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

7Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we (and our affiliates, officers, and employees) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or use, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claims arising from these terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount your institution paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

8Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
